The enchanting kora.... One never tires of the crystalline sounds from this majestic 21-string West African instrument. Nothing compares to it. The melodies that emanate from it lead far, far away, to the heart of a centuries-old musical legacy. A seventh-generations griot and a nephew of Senegalese kora player and griot Boubacar Diabaté, New Orleans-based Morikeba Kouyaté has travelled the world for more than 30 years with his much-loved instrument. He will be sharing the stage with Montrealer Zal Sissokho, whose ancestors include the first kora player in history.
