It’s the perfect way to embrace our Northern identity! The 1500 m2 rink can accommodate up to 400 people at a time. In the evening, an interactive video projection system illuminates the huge sliding surface, adding a touch of digital art to the friendly sporting atmosphere. The pavilion—A warm haven for skaters
Before and after skating, winter sports enthusiasts can take refuge in the Esplanade Tranquille Pavilion, where they'll find not only the Patin Patin counter, changing rooms and lockers, but also spaces for relaxing and interacting with others: the Repaire, the Grand Salon and the Café Tranquille (yum, a nice hot espresso), as well as balconies with heated floors! Find out more here.
The locker room remains open 30 minutes after the rink closes. Please note that all locks are cut off at midnight every day.

A cultural program on ice
What kind of cultural events take place on the skating rink?
The atmosphere is always lively and warm on and around the skating rink! Give the musical skating sessions a try, with vibes ranging from classical to disco—perfect for gliding to the beat. The now-famous Patins Platines series turns the rink into a true dance floor, where you can have fun and get your groove on. During the holiday season, the Quartier des Spectacles offers a program brimming with surprises and magic. And if you’d like to learn to skate, the regional figure skating association, Patinage Montréal, organizes a number of introductory sessions every week. It’s the perfect place to spend some quality time on the ice with family and friends! Find out more here.
How much does it cost?
Nothing at all! The rink's programming is absolutely free.
The Au bord du lac Tranquille video projection
Everyday at 8:30 p.m.*, the ice becomes a giant screen on which the interactive video projection Au bord du lac Tranquille is projected. A visual experience inspired by Quebec’s Northern identity and by our land of lakes and rivers by the thousands. The interactive, immersive work of art follows the regular rhythm of the skaters’ blades slicing through the ice.
