The first permanent venue devoted entirely to contemporary dance in Quebec, the Agora de la danse opened its doors in 1991, on Cherrier Street in Montreal. Offering the Quebec choreographic milieu a space to create and present its works to the public, the Agora also launched a program of public activities demystifying and promoting dance, in addition to developing international exchange projects. Since 2017, the company has been pursuing its mission from the Édifice WILDER - Espace danse. Its new studios in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles enable it to better support dance creation. It continues to offer a season of national and international shows in a configurable venue shared with Tangente. In keeping with the evolution of artistic practices, the Agora takes advantage of this urban context to present a new range of outdoor activities, including free live performances, unconventional meetings with the public and architectural video projections.
