Symphonic Orchestra of Montréal (OSM)
Founded in 1934 by Antonia Nantel, Wilfrid Pelletier and Athanase David, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) is a leader in the musical life of Quebec and Canada. Recognized as a world-renowned orchestra, it is a leading cultural ambassador, welcoming the world’s greatest conductors and soloists to the Maison symphonique de Montréal. Under the direction of Venezuelan conductor Rafael Payare, the OSM continues its rich legacy driven by its commitment to society, the scope of its projects, the excellence of its tours and the quality of its recordings. Since 2013, the OSM has also been offering numerous low-cost or free concerts in Montreal as part of Virée Classique. This annual event aims to promote the discovery of music in all its forms, strengthen ties with the community, help arouse music lovers’ sensibilities and curiosity, and support amateur musicians and emerging artists.
