Montreal, September 5, 2023 - MAPP_MTL, Montreal's international projection mapping festival, takes up residence in the Quartier des Spectacles from September 27 to November 15, 2023. It will present internationally acclaimed Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN with his spectacular work, a Canadian premiere, SOLEIL (SUN), thanks to the support of the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan. This work is a must-see for families and friends alike. It is presented in collaboration with the Quartier des Spectacles Parternship. MAPP_MTL invites Montrealers and visitors, young and old, to come and discover this majestic work, and transport them into the world of digital creativity!

SOLEIL (SUN) is a representative work by YOSHIROTTEN, an artist and art director whose activities cover art, design and music in Japan and around the world. It consists of 365 images of the silver sun reflecting the colors of its surroundings, drawn day by day during the year of the pandemic. Colored by hand, with digital tools rather than automatically generated, each SOLEIL (SUN) has a different, unique feel: a blend of sci-fi worldview and universality, expressing the transition of things and seasons. Each SOLEIL (SUN) can be interpreted as a view or a time that exists only at that moment.
