LUMINO PRO is organized by the Partenariat du Quartier des spectacles (PQDS) and Quartier des spectacles international (QDSinternational). It is part of the 15th edition of LUMINO, an event that has reinvented the use of public space by adding an artistic and interactive dimension that raised the city’s profile around the world.

LUMINO PRO: thinking about urban design through the prism of digital art

The event is a unique opportunity to extend this new dynamic by broadening the dialogue around the design and animation of public spaces, with a particular focus on digital creativity and new design approaches. This professional event will highlight Montreal and Quebec expertise in these fields by bringing together design professionals, managers of public spaces, digital artists, event producers, and representatives of the political, business and tourism sectors.

LUMINO PRO will include presentations, panels and discussions on current design trends, and underline the achievements of the last 15 years with a focus on LUMINO’s impact on the evolution of public space in Montreal.

Comité aménagement et animation des espaces publics au Québec

Representing eight municipalities across the province, will also be present. The committee, chaired by Chantal Deschamps, former mayor of Repentigny, has the mission of promoting stronger inter-municipal synergies and strengthening abilities in the animation of public spaces through francophone culture and the arts.

Let’s talk about Placemaking

A highlight of LUMINO PRO will be Let’s talk about Placemaking expert session, co-presented by the Canadian Urban Insititute, QDSinternational, Design Montréal, and other partners, a program under the direction of Jacquelyn West. It will bring together experts in a conversation about the issues, challenges and opportunities associated with placemaking. It will also be an opportunity to mark the launch of Let’s talk about Placemaking, a publication of the Canadian planning community, the Canadian Urban Institute, Community Foundations of Canada, and the Government of Canada. This publication gathers the reflections of over 100 players in the field on the evolution of this practice in Canada.
