An urban link between the Musée d’art contemporain and Place des Arts, the Esplanade de la Place des Arts is an elevated public square, complete with a fountain in summer and a variety of spaces for hosting cultural activities. It can be accessed from Sainte-Catherine Street West via the grand staircase—a key architectural feature—where you’ll come across casual visitors and families grabbing a bite to eat. You can also enter from the north via De Maisonneuve Boulevard West, skirting the rounded façades of Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, whose majestic frontispiece dominates the square. Festivals set up stages and entertainment facilities here, making it a lively public space in summer and winter alike. The Esplanade also has its very own cultural program.
